Transition

I launched The Diversity Projekt a little more than a year ago. Time flies when you are having fun. I not only launched my own space but I also left the corporate world and transitioned into public service/non profit. I finally feel like I am making a difference in the lives of some of the most at-risk and defenseless people on earth - refugees. I pinch myself a lot. It truly is surreal! Amazing! Over the last year, I have built a strong readership with TDP and have forged collaborations with a diverse group of bloggers, community activists and grass roots initiatives. As time goes on TDP is turning into a lifeblog, crossing discussions of gender, race, sexuality, race, politics, and just the ever day.
Nevertheless, I have received several inquiries to start writing for other platforms, two of which are also online.  So, I have been trying to streamline all of my reading into either RSS feeds to my email or to GoogleReader. This of course ends up being quite difficult with LiveJournal, especially for those on my flist who filter their posts. Therefore, I have some decisions to make. I would really like to transition this blog and integrate my LJ friends list with my TDP readership. I hope that those of you who still follow me here would be so kind as too add my TDP feed to your GoogleReader or other aggregate program.

Some other sites to check out - Swirl, Inc., a national organization aimed at challenging notions of race through community building, education and action. I am the Director of the Philadelphia chapter. I am extremely proud of the work we are doing. One of our newest ventures is to consolidate our messaging into a strong national message. One way are doing this - launching a blog. We will be sending out a call for submissions within the next week or two and hope that anyone who is interested contributes. You can contact me directly at KathrinSwirl with any questions or with submissions. I will most likely be one of the editors.

I think that is all for now. I may post some pro-migrant call to actions later on this weekend. But for now I have to get some writing done and get ready for my trip to NYC tomorrow. Should be fun! :-)
